Sportzfan Radio Show #164.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!25 July 2010 164.1 – The Professor welcomes Stan back after illness whilst Daniel Eade laments at the Aussies appalling cricket effort against Pakistan and Gambo has been for a “roll” on the greens.  Sean Callanan recovering from a bit of jet lag is upbeat about the recent Sports Conferences on Social Media in Australia and New Zealand.  He says sports teams that try to engage their fans get the best result in social media.  He is putting together a Sports Social Media Index for A League teams prior to the season start.  He thinks Gold Coast Suns without any tradition, will keep tweeking the design of their football jumper until they get one that resonates with fans.  The Panel talk about the turf at Etihad Stadium and liken it to an ice rink and conclude something needs to be done from on OH&S perspective before an AFL footballer sues over an injury.  The Gelding talks racing with the hits and misses from Saturday at Moonee Valley and Randwick.  His horse Queen Asa gets another start at Cranbourne but is not confident.  Daniel learns that Kenny Loggins “other” song is Footloose and he thinks maybe Kenny should have been asked to provide a theme song for the Gold Coast Suns.  The Professor and Daniel wonder whether the Melbourne Tigers have done the wrong thing by getting Tommy Greer and Darryl Corletto to break their contracts with clubs playing in the SEABL and Big V competitions in order to go on a pre-NBL season tour with the Tigers.  Gambo is happy “Plugger” Lockett is made a legend at St Kilda and the Panel look at big names the Gold Coast Suns could sign aside from Karmichael Hunt to raise the new AFL team’s profile – Shane Warne and Kevin Rudd are suggested

Sydney Colt's Mail For Randwick 24 July

2 from 3 last week saw lobster back on the menu. Thanks to the tip straight from Gai’s stable. I hope you read the post and benefited from that insight. This week it’s Friday night mail and not as strong. Fingers crossed.

Race 3 n2 WITH ICE In form galloper who is nicely placed based on ratings. Likes wet tracks.

Race 4 n2 SQUAMOSA Short price but the word from the track is that Gai has a very smart neddy here who will be too classy for this lot.

Race 6 n8 NOT A SNIP A DOUBT e/w I am told this neddy is now jumping out of its skin after 2 warm up runs from a long break. Great chance at e/w odds.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sydney Colt's Mail For Rosehill 17 July

We have gained some good mail for today’s races. Nothing fancy about the prices of the 3 tips but I expect a profitable day. If you bet with the corporate bookies and not the thieving local tote you will win more.

Race 1 n5 CROSSBOW Won a ‘no race’ where it ran great sectionals. Only has to match that effort to win this with ease. Know a pro punter who got some good oil direct from Gai’s stable on this neddy.

Race 4 n2 FUSAKEO Another from Gai’s stable. Nash will control the pace of this race up front. Well suited being back 200m from its last start 2nd to a promising horse.

Race 5 n6 ATOMIC FORCE Extremely well placed here because (a) lack of pace (b) weight drop and (c) dryer track = 3 good reasons to have a small flutter.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Coming up on Sportzfan Radio #163

On Sunday’s show the Professor is back behind the Panel and will have NRL commentator Nick Tedeschi and basketball expert Daniel Eade as guests.  Aside from the normal disection of the week in sports they will be talking with US reporter Dan Butterly about Major League Baseball and the National League finally winning an All Star game, NBA free agency and an interesting video from the Mountain West women’s soccer championships of 2009.

We’ll cross to a restaurant in Chinatown to talk racing with The Gelding, who’ll discuss the winners and losers at Caulfield.  Also on the show “F” Word’s Mark Fiorenti will wrap up the recently completed World Cup and talk about whether soccer needs the introduction of a match review panel.  Paul Dalligan will discuss the revelations about the Melbourne Storm higher salary cap breaches and give his assessment of the likely finalists as the NRL season nears its conclusion.

Gelding's tips for 17 July 2010

This week, the Gelding’s attention returns to his headquarters track at Caulfield.  Hopefully the rain will hold off so that the track can dry out a bit.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Race 3 Horse 3 – Meet me at Raffles

Race 5 Horse 1 – Beyond Pardon (for the ladies at the Tennis club)

Race 6 Horse 11 – Reward for Effort (also for the Ladies at the Tennis club)

Race 7 Horse 3 – Arch Symbol

Unfortunately Queen Asa didn’t run a drum last Sunday at Cranbourne but stay tuned as it is being primed for its next run!!  As for Cranbourne you might like to try Dalligan’s tip of Race 3 Horse 3 – Dreams to Silk, a Mick Price trained gelding.

You can hear me on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm each Sunday talking with the Professor about all things racing.

Good luck and good punting,

The Gelding

Sydney Colt's Mail For 3 July 2010

Plenty of mail around from 2 pro punters and man who provides a ratings and pricing service for 2 rails bookies. Not much value but winners seemed assured. Last week we had 1 win from 2 selections with Huckelberry Friend a scratching (I’m told Gelding apparently said on the radio show it ran last – maybe he was given that bum steer by his friend Bendigo Betty)

Race 2 n7 Dal Dal Won 1 from 1 for Gai and I’m told the stable cash is going on this one.

Race 3 n6 Skyerush Last start winner who will get a suck run from barrier 1

Race 5 n1 Tripple Elegance Chris Waller has this neddy flying with wins at its past 2 starts

Race 7 n6 Electric Dreams Great run 1st up from spell when wide all way for 4th behind superstars Loce Conquers All and Hay List. This is a significantly weaker race.

Moeny lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding's tips for 3 July 2010

Well, the Gelding had quite a good ‘financial year’ on the punt and is looking to start the new financial year at a sprint.  His attention is drawn to Moonee Valley tommorrow but a word of caution to keep an eye on the weather as rain may be a factor overnight!

The Gelding is sticking with horses he has backed before and all are last start winners so that is good form.

The bets as always are on an each way and all up basis.

Race 3  Horse 1 – Sunday Rose (for the girls at the Tennis club)
Race 4 Horse 3 – Das Machen
Race 6 Horse 3 – Oak Heart
Race 7 Horse 2 – Ghostmilk (also for the girls at the Tennis club)
PS – Update on Sportzfan Radio’s own Queen Asa – her next start will be at Kimore next Tuesday in a Maiden over 1450 metres (if not balloted out).  A better performance is expected however we are looking to get the horse up to 1600 to 2000 in the third or fourth start this campaign.  It is then that it will be expected to be winning.

Good luck and good punting!

Sydney Colt's Mail For Randwick Sat 26 June

If the track gets no rain before they race tomorrow we can punt with a degree of confidence.

Race 4 n 5 Hidden Wonder e/w The pro punters stepped into this one early and it is now a $4.0 fav. Backed e/w it is a bet to nothing. Third up from spell and barrier 2 will see it get the suck run. “Thriving” I’m told!

Race 5 n2 Brasileira Topical tip. Second up and they tell me Snowden has this cherry ripe. Pros believe it to be the bet of the program on ratings.

Race 6 n 10 Huckelberry Friend e/w Word is that this neddy is improving on the track after it’s last start win, so the other should watch out!

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding's tips for 26 June 2010

With the end of the financial year at hand, the Gelding is looking to end it on a winning note.  This may be difficult as the weather is threatening with the cold and wet not helping predictions.

A big thanks to the Sydney Colt for his vote of confidence during the week.

Flemington

Race 4 Horse 1 – Broken (for the ladies at the Tennis club)

Race 6 Horse 15 – Doubtful Jack (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)

Race 7 Horse 10 – Sea Syke

Race 8 Horse 1 – Offenders

Good luck and good punting!

Gelding – The King Of The Tipsters

Going back a couple of years, I was asked by the Professor if I would be interested in providing race selections for Sydney racing. It seemed my reputation as a punt drunk was known by more than my wife and a few mates. The Professor thought it would be good to have an addition to the tipster ranks (note I didn’t use the word rivalry). I accepted the offer but on 1 proviso, the tips I would be giving are a compilation of mail I gather from those who either punt for a living or sell information/ratings/track work etc for a living. You see, the truth of the matter is, even in a life and death situation, I am incapable of backing a winner of my own picking. Like those who ring me on a Saturday or those who may glance at the Sydney Colt’s posts on this site, I punt on the information and expertise of others.
