The Spring Carnival has its first major race of the Spring Carnival with the running of the Caulfield Cup today. The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 with the rail out 6 metres for the entire circuit. The Everest is also being run at Randwick.

The wet and windy conditions will make punting a risky business today but the Professor and the Gelding will try and chart a course to some winners. The Caulfield track is currently rated a Soft 6 but with rain expected during the day the track rating could well be downgraded. The rail is out 6 metres for the entire circuit.

All in all a very good return. They are looking to at least equal that at Randwick today where the track is currently rated a Soft 5 and the rail is out 3 metres for the entire circuit.
