Sportzfan Radio #168

Apologies to fans of Sportzfan Radio but the Panel will be taking a well earned break this Sunday whilst Southern FM has maintenance performed on its transmitter.

Fear not though as the best sports radio show going around will be back Sunday 29 August 2010 from midday til 2.00pm on 88.3 Southern FM talking all things sport.

Gelding's tips for 21 August 2010

The Gelding’s attention is right on Money……I mean Moonee Valley tomorrow where there seems to be plenty of value for punters.

Moonee Valley

The tips are

Race 3 Horse 9 Overtake
Race 4 Horse 1 Curtana (for the girls at the Tennis club)
Race 5 Horse 7 Achievements
Race 8 Horse 9 Ghost Milk (also for the girls at the Tennis club)

No Sportzfan Radio this week as Southern FM is having transmitter maintenance but the Gelding will be back talking racing with the Professor on Sunday 29 August 2010 at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM.

Good luck and good punting!

The Gelding

Sydney Colt Bets On WSOP 2010 Main Event Winner

The below market is taken from Betchoice.com.au where punt drunks can gamble on the final table winner of the 2010 World Series Of Poker. The number in brackets is the chip stack each player will take to the final table. The “November 9” will battle it out for a 1st prize of around $US9M with the 1st 8 all receiving $1M+.

As mentioned on air last Sunday I am backing both Mizarachi at $8.75 and Cheong at $9.0 These 2 represent experience at the top level and I rate them both at around $6.5. Hence, I like the value they represent. This will be an enormous advantage as the less experienced players begin to have their nerves tested under pressure. They will be sledged about potentially making mistakes while the cameras and millions of viewers see and judge their every move. The 2 chip leaders are relative new comers to the big stage, with Duhamel being only 22 years of age.

WSOP 2010 Main Event Winner

Event #57 No-Limit Hold’em Championship – Win Only
Win    Name
3.00 Duhamel, Jonathon (65.9M)
4.50 Dolan, John (46.2M)
8.75 Mizarachi, Michael (14.4M)
9.00 Cheong, Joseph (23.5M)
10.00 Racener, John (19.0M)
12.00 Candio, Fillipo (16.4M)
12.00 Jarvis, Matthew (16.7M)
21.00 Nguyen, Soi (9.6M)
34.00 Senti, Jason (7.6M)

Sportzfan Radio #167.2

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!15 August 2010 167.2 – The Sydney Colt talks about the best value when betting and says punters would be very foolish not to go with the Corporate Bookies. He also talks about the last table at the World Series of Poker and has framed a book on the next NSW RL State of Origin Coach ($2.80 Laurie Daly $3.40 Ricky Stuart, $5.00 Phil Gould, Steve Folkes, $12.00 Brad Fittler..). We get Dr Leslie’s CSA in earlier this week just prior to Paul Dalligan. Paul hasn’t been eating baked beans but says he had a foot long hot dog at the Mets. Whilst he didn’t do any stool gazing, he did do some beer gazing. He returns from his overseas jaunt to talk NRL but spends most of his time talking baseball. He has brought the Professor an umbrella from his trip to the Citibank Stadium super box. Paul would like to see Phil Gould as the next State of Origin Coach. The Professor reveals there will be no Sportzfan Radio next Sunday as Southern FM are off the air for maintenance work. In that case, Daniel decides to talk about next week’s results this week. The Panel talks to Nick Tedeschi about the NSW State of Origin Coach and Nick thinks Laurie Daly is over the line from the mail he has received. Nick would prefer Chris Anderson to coach the team. He also discusses the players leaving the Melbourne Storm and whether the Storm will be able to do a Canterbury Bankstown and win a flag within two years. The Panel spends the rest of the time talking about rumors and topics tweeted in. The Parkdale Pounce believes Matthew Knights will not coach Essendon next year but Matthew Lloyd will comeback and be coached by Mark Williams. There is also a discussion on changes by the AFL to the interchange rules and it is decided that we should start the “Benny Hill” segment for stupid ideas. Daniel believes Adrian Anderson would be part of the segment each week. The Gelding believes there should be a committee set up to watch over committees. In another nomination for the Benny Hill award, it seems Cameron White is playing for Bangalore against Victoria in the IPL competition – go figure! Will Richmond keep Ben Cousins? Time will tell although the Panel hope he comes back in 2011. Finally the Panel talk about the Socceroos new coach Holger Osieck – the no name coach, who is maybe twenty years out of his prime.

Sportzfan Radio #167.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!15 August 2010 167.1 – The Panel kick off with a discussion on the proposed changes to AFL rules. In the US report Dan Butterly talks about the Mets Felix Rodriguez and the alleged attack of his girlfriend’s father at Citibank Stadium and agrees with the Professor that he may have tried for one strike out too many. He also discusses the MLB pennant races and still has hope that the Rockies will qualify for the playoffs. There is a discussion of the various Commissioner’s salaries (Bud Selig from the MLB wins by a long way) and the Professor wonders whether there is value for money, Dan thinks David Stern from the NBA is doing the best job at present. Dan thinks the Knicks are a dysfunctional franchise and this is evidenced by the fact that they have approached Isiah Thomas to become a “consultant” for the franchise. There is also an announcement by Dan of a cultural exchange between the Southern Football League and the Mountain West Conference with the SFL CEO visiting the MWC in the US for a week’s internship. The Gelding and the Sydney Colt talk racing and provide a comnprehensive review of the Caulfield and Rosehill results.

Sydney Colt's Mail For Rosehill 14 August

We turned a small profit last week and I expect we may do the same today. No value whatsoever but astute betting with the corporate bookies will give us an advantage.

Race 3 n5 MISS INDEPENDENT Nice last start win and again well placed. We need to pray for some genuine pace otherwise the fav may get a soft lead.

Race 4 n6 WINTER KING With all the scratchings this neddy is now tomato sauce odds. Does look too nippy for this lot. Paying better than bank interest.

Race 6 n7 SQUAMOSA This horse is race fit, is well placed with the weights, has been killing them in track gallops and is trained by Gai. Did I miss anything?

Race 7 n5 KHEMOSABI My pro punter pal tells me he has been reading the smoke signals about this neddy all week. He has already this morning invested a 5 figure sum on this race fit neddy. I’m following him in, what about you?

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding's tips for 14 August 2010

The Gelding’s attention is fairly and squarely on his home track at a rather wet Caulfield tomorrow.

With the rain during the week, the track should be fairly heavy so look for the runners that like the forward running.

Race 3 Horse 6 Mr Harry (for the girls at the Tennis club)
Race 4 Horse 1 Crystal Lily
Race 6 Horse 11 Shoot Out (also for the girls at the Tennis club)
Race 8 Horse 15 Imperial Command

Remember you can hear the Gelding talk racing with the Professor on Sportzfan Radio every Sunday at 12.30pm.  Special guest this week will be the Sydney Colt.

Good luck and good punting!

Sportzfan Radio #166.2

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!8 August 2010 166.2 –The Panel say it’s all very well to have a baseball league but where will Melbourne Aces play their home games.  No decision made on that as yet as we understand it, but hopefully not Altona as both Daniel and Trav say they won’t go to that venue.  Nick Tedeschi talks NRL and believes Canterbury Bulldogs are the bet of the weekend v Newcastle.  We catch him before he heads out to the SCG to watch the Roosters play St George and felt it would be nostalgic to see League played at the SCG again.  He says Israel Folau will defintely come back to rugby league after his flirtation with the AFL.  We get Dr Leslie’s CSA in earlier this week so we can do more stool gazing before the end of the show.  Daniel says Brett Favre can’t be @packers4 on twitter as the Professor already has that handle.  Daniel reviews the Melbourne Tigers tour of ‘the world’ and notes that they beat England but lost to the University of Pittsburgh.  Stan wonders whether the Tigers should be investing more in players than spending it on a bonding tour.  Sean Callanan joins the discussion and says Stan’s point is fair enough, but he guesses the Tigers are looking at getting advantage from sharing knowledge with other teams aound the world.  The Professor finds it funny that the Tigers are playing the “Irish All Stars”.  The Panel discusses whether there should be a Hall of Fame for the players who actually help the stars into the Hall of Fame by doing the blocks or opening the running lanes.  Sean thinks that a Brett Favre reality show on his “Decision” to comeback (or not) would be a weekly program not a one off.  The Panel gets a tweet from @BrisbaneNBL announcing an attempt to revive the Brisbane Bullets franchise.  Sean thinks sports fans would struggle to name five NBL players.  He doesn’t know when the Tigers will appear on twitter and fires in a record number of sports cliches on Collingwood’s run to the finals.

Sportzfan Radio #166.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!8 August 2010 166.1 –The Panel talk about the AFL using technology for deciding whether a goal is kicked or not.  Stan says maybe the umpires need regular checks on their eye sight as over a period of time mistakes can affect the outcome of games.  Marie Baker makes a return to the show with her US report and says human error is part of sport so why sweat over mistakes made by referees.  She believes Brett Fravre is a drama queen who needs his own annual reality “decision” show and doesn’t think Shaq changing NBA teams again will affect his legacy.  She also feels Tiger Woods probably won’t get back to the top in golf and that A-Rod’s 600th homer as the youngest person ever to reach that mark, may not be enough to get him into MLB’s Hall of Fame.  The Gelding provides the answers to Saturday’s racing at both Flemington and Randwick.  He says it was a tough day with many long priced horses saluting and elects not to award the S-Hit ride of the day to the jockey of Bonindi but does say her ride “lacked imagination”.  No luck again for Queen Asa this week although she did run fourth so getting closer to a placing.  He tells Travis that he has no plans to run it in the Spring Carnival.  The Professor looks at the farcical situation with the Commonwealth Games venues in Delhi being incomplete with only 60 days until the start of the events.  Daniel believes the Games organizing committee should adopt the Andrew Demetriou line  “Everything is fine….there is no problem.”  A National Baseball League will finally return to Australia in November with 6 team competing.  Daniel is surprised that Stan can remember back to baseball in the late 1920’s.

Sydney Colt's Mail For Randwick

Great to catch up with the Professor during the week over a meal and a red or three! Unfortunately the Gelding was restricted to the stable. Next time old mate.

Race 1 n5 HIDDEN WONDER Comes in nicely based on ratings and loves the mile trip. Will be on the pace and will look the winner in the straight

Race 2 n3 DAL DAL No prize for picking this neddy as every man and his dog has jumped on. Gai has thrown the blinkers on and the pro punters took the early price bet by the corporate bookies

Race 6 n2 DECISION TIME The best horse in the race without question! Trialled brilliantly and is a super e/w bet. If this race was 200m longer I would declare this neddy.

Race 8 n 10 SUPERNOVA and n12 STORM KITE Finish the day with a few dollars e/w both of these. Our ratings man says they are the best placed and their current prices are very inviting
