Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 29 October

Unless you are a punt drunk or a Sydney Colt groupie you shouldn’t bet on Sydney as it is a rough day. Have some mail for a $34 horse today. A lounge chair, TVN’s coverage of Flemington and an online account with a corporate bookie is the go.

Race 7 n4 MERCONMAN e/w ($34w $9p) I have taken the quoted prices with Sportsbet (also available with IAS) this morning. This neddy has trialled well and worth a few bob e/w. If it flukes the win I will be able to pay off Greece’s national debt

Race 8n8 LIGHTINTHENITE ($4.0) My only query here is that the connections have left Christian Reith on board. His last ride, when the neddy was the subject of a national plunge (and my biggest bet of the year), bordered on criminal. He chased the tearaway leader in sectional times that made it completely impossible for the horse to have any chance. Any repeat will see Christian fed to the lions!!

16 October 2011 223.1 The Professor and the Gelding talk about their respective days at the Caulfield and Traralgon races yesterday. The Professor believes that Danish Rock would have beaten the horses in the first five races at Traralgon. Sportzfan Stan and Daniel eventually get introduced and make up for lost time. There is a discussion regarding the televising of NBL games and how they select the games as Daniel thought it would be Perth v Melbourne on Friday night but it turned out to be Townsville v Cairns. Sportzfan Stan asks why people aren’t watching the games on TV and the overall feeling is that the games are on too late. Dan Butterly comes on to talk US sport and looks at the situation in Boston after the Red Sox meltdown with both their coach Terry Francona and GM Theo Epstein leaving. He also looks at the revelations that three pitchers were in the clubhouse during games eating fried chicken, drinking beer and playing video games while their teamates were out on the field. Dan looks at the ALCS and NLCS and believes the Texas Rangers and St Louis Cardinals will play off in the World Series. He comments that hitting is dominating at present. Dan discusses Pete Carroll’s attempt to get LeBron James to play wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks via twitter and the shock teams so far this season in the NFL. He also looks at the ‘almost’ play of the year in College football by Brad Wing, LSU’s Aussie punter and finishes with a review of MWC basketball media day. The Gelding talks racing and reviews yesterday’s races at Caulfield. He got two selections up for the Ladies at the Tennis Club and also awarded an s-hit ride. The Gelding has also put together a Sportzfan Radio stable of horses for the listeners to follow for the Spring carnival.

Well all the attention is on Caulfield today where the champ Black Caviar goes around at a price that stops all of us having a bet. In Sydney there is not too much mail about except for 1 race. In an attempt to recoup last week’s losses it will be an all or nothing day in race 5.

Race 5 n7 LIGHTINTHENITE This neddy won in super impressive fashion first up and still had improvement left in it. I have had my biggest bet of the year on this one and had a saver bet on n3 HOOD who has some chance if the forecast rain comes. God give them strength or I will be on a diet of baked beans all October.

If anyone has some pull with the man upstairs can you put in a request for the rain to stay away. Otherwise it will play havoc with some great mail for Randwick on ‘Super Saturday’. Extra care taken today to bring some joy to my beautiful niece Cara who is heading out to Randwick to hopefully make life a misery for bookmakers. Also, a welcome aboard to Melb’s Pina who has joined the punt drunk brigade.

Race 1 n7 KYRIA Came from behind in trial to win running away in sensational time. Just keep those other horses out of its way and we collect.

Race 3 n3 AERONAUTICAL The pro punters tell me this neddy had excuses for its last start. Will improve heaps and hopefully knock off the fav.

Race 6 n3 AMBIDEXTER Those in the know assure me Snowden has this cherry ripe in its preparation to peak today.
