The Gelding talks about how short a price Black Caviar started at on Saturday and the Professor asks whether it is easier to pick a winner in the off season than during the Spring Carnival. Sydney Colt’s Mail For Randwick Tomorrow 5 Nov 2011

Off to early morning trackwork tomorrow so getting some early mail posted for my groupies and fellow punt drunks.

Randwick

Race 2 n5 SHADOW LINE e/w Well in on ratings and not a hard race. Nice each way bet to get us going.

Race 3 n5 DRIEFONTEIN The pros tell me that going on trial form this is easy money. Jump on!

Race 7 n8 YURRAPENDI e/w Cummings horse with potential. I jumped on at $21 e/w. Will have a saver tomorrow on BOUND TO BLUSH who has been very impressive.

Race 8 n3 ROSIE’S REWARD (will have 70% of my stake on this neddy) and n11 TONK (will have 30% of my stake on this one). Between them they should control the tempo up front.

Flemington

I am told by a ratings nut that I must back two horses in Race 4 who equally have a break on this field and they are both $6.0+. So, I’ll be splitting my bet 50/50 on n1 AMAH ROCK and n2 MAHISARA

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding’s tips for Cup Day 1 November 2011

The Gelding’s attention is on Flemington for the Melbourne Cup meeting. It’s the race that stops Australia. There is some real value in today’s tips. If three winners can get up from these selections it will be a reasonable day at the track!

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Flemington

Race 5 Horse 2 – Karuta Queen (for the ladies from the Tennis club)
Race 7 Horse 1 – Americain (also for the ladies from the Tennis club)

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Melbourne Cup Day

Good luck to all the ‘once a year’ punters and those, like myself, who are referred to as ‘punt drunks’. It is not easy making a profit on the cup so I suggest a few dollars on some neddies who have been tipped to me either by a pro punter or our ever reliable ratings man.

Flemington

Race 5 n2 KARUTA QUEEN Very short price but it is hard to see this getting beaten. Ran 2nd to the mighty Black Caviar, then won with a leg in the air at its next outing.

Race 6 n2 COMBAT KITTY Only 3 hopes of winning in this race and our neddy is the best rated.

Race 7 (the cup) 1ST: AMERICAIN  2nd: NIWOT  3RD:   GLASS HARMONIUM 4TH: MOURAYAN 5TH: DUNADEN

Race 9 n11 PARABLES Will finish this off at a 100 miles an hour. Prepared to the minute to win this

Randwick

Race 6 n2 SAN ZAIM (65% of race outlay) and n8 SONG AND ROSES (35% of race outlay) On ratings these 2 combined offer the best value in Sydney all day.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 29 October

Unless you are a punt drunk or a Sydney Colt groupie you shouldn’t bet on Sydney as it is a rough day. Have some mail for a $34 horse today. A lounge chair, TVN’s coverage of Flemington and an online account with a corporate bookie is the go.

Race 7 n4 MERCONMAN e/w ($34w $9p) I have taken the quoted prices with Sportsbet (also available with IAS) this morning. This neddy has trialled well and worth a few bob e/w. If it flukes the win I will be able to pay off Greece’s national debt

Race 8n8 LIGHTINTHENITE ($4.0) My only query here is that the connections have left Christian Reith on board. His last ride, when the neddy was the subject of a national plunge (and my biggest bet of the year), bordered on criminal. He chased the tearaway leader in sectional times that made it completely impossible for the horse to have any chance. Any repeat will see Christian fed to the lions!!

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 22 Oct 2011

A ton of mail around today including a couple at double figure odds.

Race 1 n 3 MISS KEEPSAKE – best of the day but short

Race 3 n1 DAILIKA

Race 4 n10 SAID COM

Race 5 n6 SHADOW MINISTER

Race 7 n7 VINTEGE

M/VALLEY Race 9 n3 MORE STRAWBERRIES – 3 calls for mail today and all 3 wanted to tip me into this one in Melb

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding’s tips for 22 October 2011

The Gelding’s attention turns to Moonee Valley today for Cox Plate day. Several of the Gelding’s selections are very short so he has thrown in more selections than normal for a bit of value.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Moonee Valley

Race 2 Horse 4 – Classic Elle
Race 3 Horse 8 – Karuta Queen
Race 4 Horse 1 – Manawanui (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 5 Horse 5 – Black Caviar (also for the ladies at the Tenbnis club)
Race 6 Horse 1 – Americain
Race 7 Horse 6 – Luen Yak Forever
Race 8 Horse 9 – Rekindled Interest

You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM.  The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.

Good luck and good punting!

The Gelding

Sportzfan Radio show #223.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!16 October 2011 223.1 The Professor and the Gelding talk about their respective days at the Caulfield and Traralgon races yesterday. The Professor believes that Danish Rock would have beaten the horses in the first five races at Traralgon. Sportzfan Stan and Daniel eventually get introduced and make up for lost time. There is a discussion regarding the televising of NBL games and how they select the games as Daniel thought it would be Perth v Melbourne on Friday night but it turned out to be Townsville v Cairns. Sportzfan Stan asks why people aren’t watching the games on TV and the overall feeling is that the games are on too late. Dan Butterly comes on to talk US sport and looks at the situation in Boston after the Red Sox meltdown with both their coach Terry Francona and GM Theo Epstein leaving. He also looks at the revelations that three pitchers were in the clubhouse during games eating fried chicken, drinking beer and playing video games while their teamates were out on the field. Dan looks at the ALCS and NLCS and believes the Texas Rangers and St Louis Cardinals will play off in the World Series. He comments that hitting is dominating at present. Dan discusses Pete Carroll’s attempt to get LeBron James to play wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks via twitter and the shock teams so far this season in the NFL. He also looks at the ‘almost’ play of the year in College football by Brad Wing, LSU’s Aussie punter and finishes with a review of MWC basketball media day. The Gelding talks racing and reviews yesterday’s races at Caulfield. He got two selections up for the Ladies at the Tennis Club and also awarded an s-hit ride. The Gelding has also put together a Sportzfan Radio stable of horses for the listeners to follow for the Spring carnival.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Randwick 15 October 2011

Am getting thinner by the day owing to a lack of money to buy food. Owing to the bad weather, today is a day purely for punt drunks and Sydney Colt’s groupies. Bet small and bet e/w today.

Race 3 n5 FOXSTAR

Race 4 n7 YING LA

Race 5 n7 MYALLA GOLD

Race 6 n6 OLDER THAN TIME

Race 7 n1 KANZAN

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
