27 November 2011 228.1 – Due to another technical glitch, we lost the first few minutes of the show but we come in with the Sports Geek, Sean Callanan talking sports digital and social media with sports personalities in the news for the wrong reasons like Jabar Gaffney and Josh Hunt. Aston Kutcher also had problems tweeting on sports. Sean comments that the AFL draft looked terrible and was a missed opportunity. The Gelding is back to talk horse racing after his week off and returned to form even though the Sandown track was very heavy. Sportzfan Stan has umbrage that the Professor cut him short to take the Gelding’s call and says he takes a dim view of that but refrains from sacking anyone. Stan talks cricket and says it appears the selectors have got rid of most of the dead wood although he hasn’t heard of the new players selected for Australia.
Gelding’s tips for 3 December 2011
The Gelding is back at his home track at Caulfield today and is confident that his selections will provide some winners for the Sportzfan Radio punters. He will need to be good as his running mate, the Sydney Colt, has been in outstanding form over the last two weeks.
The Gelding suggests you also take the Colt’s tips in a multi with his own for what would provide an early Christmas bonus.
As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.
Caulfield
Race 1 Horse 4 – Starchine
Race 3 Horse 7 – Elusive King
Race 4 Horse 3 – Our Pride and Joy (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 6 Horse 1 – Catapulted (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 8 Horse 2 – Shadow Fax
You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM. The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.
Good luck and good punting!

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 3 December 2011
Winner winner lobster dinner! 2 weeks ago 1 tip for 1 winner. Last week 2 tips for 2 winners including We Betcha paying $10.20 win and $4.10 place with the corporate bookies. Were you on or were you asleep at the wheel? Not too much mail around for today but will be happy to snare a winner from 2 of gai’s runners.
Race 2 n6 SINDARIN Our ratings man said I would be a mug not to tip this to the Sydney Colt groupies. Has about 2kg on the field based on ratings and Snowden has it ready.
Race 5 n4 MISS MARX Won first up last preparation at this course and distance. Is a good ‘fresh’ horse and I’m told has trialled well.
Race 6 n1 KING LIONHEART Similar to MISS MARX this neddy also won first up last preparation at this course and distance. This is a group horse with a ton of class and tenacity.
Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
Gelding’s tips for 26 November 2011
The Gelding’s attention is on a very wet Sandown today with racing taking place on the Hillside track. The track has gone from a Dead 4 to a Slow 6 and regular Sportzfan Radio listeners will know this is not an ideal rating to try and select winners…..but we’ll have a go.
As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.
Sandown
Race 2 Horse 1 – Cash Bound (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 4 Horse 6 – Sea Galleon (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 5 Horse 5 – Snitza
Race 6 Horse 10 – Freereturn
Race 8 Horse 9 – Cadenzia
You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM. The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Canterbury Tomorrow 26 November
We got the lot last weekend with some firsthand mail from the track. Put me in a good mood to catch up with the Professor and Gelding during my week in sunny Melbourne. Thank you boys the company was sensational as was the feed of lobster and accompanying red.
Many thanks also to the great people at the Great Western Hotel. There is no better watering hole in Melbourne.
Can somebody tell me why some crown patrons bet on the $5 roulette wheel with both 0 and 00 while the table next to them has a single 0 and pays the same odds? I had to check to see if the cameras were rolling and the whole charade was a candid camera show. Unbloody believable!!
Canterbury Race 1 n5 DON’T BLINK I think this neddy can knock off LYRIC who is the odds on fav. DON’T BLINK has been going great guns at the track after 2 nice trial wins. An impressive animal up close.
Race 8 n14 WE BETCHA e/w This neddy has a few good ones to get past but my mail says Chris Waller will have this cherry wipe to make a late charge. A good fresh horse.
Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
Sportzfan Radio show #227.2
20 November 2011 227.2 – Mark Fiorenti also is critical of Socceroo’s coach, Holger Osieck with tactics and team selection. He thinks the tie against Saudi Arabia in February 2012 will be played at AAMI Park in Melbourne. Mark also reviews the current A League round and provides an update on the English Premier League. The Dr Leslie CSA is on later than usual in today’s show. The Panel discuss an email on the passing of the late Peter Roebuck and Sportzfan Stan agrees that he was a very good cricket writer. They then discuss 20/20 Big Bash cricket with the Melbourne Stars signing Shane Warne and playing atthe MCG. World Champion Hot Dog eater, Joey Chestnut is appearing at an eating contest in Melbourne although Sportzfan Stan has difficulty believing that eating can be a sport. Paul Dalligan is also on a day off (at a Russian wedding if you don’t mind) so it is left to the Professor to review the Kangaroos win in the Four Nations Tournament over England. The show then crosses to Mordiboy for a live update from the President’s Cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Course and he says the coverage by the media on the event has been amazing. Finally the Panel looks at the current NBL round and they try to make sense of the Melbourne Tigers beating the top side then losing to the bottom side the next night.
Sportzfan Radio show #227.1
20 November 2011 227.1 – An almost empty studio today with only the Professor and Sportzfan Stan behind the microphone with the Gelding playing golf and Daniel Eade at a wedding (his own?). Sportzfan Stan is convinced cricket is doomed to failure because tests matches take too long and no young people are taking up cricket. He then gives the Professor his views on cricket and in particular the poor performance of wicketkeeper Brad Haddin and says he should retire gracefully. He also believes Ricky Ponting is a ‘has been’ and hands out a few sackings to the Test team. In the absence of the Gelding, the Professor talks racing and the results of the selections from Moonee Valley and the Sydney Colt’s tips for Warwick Farm. It wasn’t a good day for the Gelding or the ladies at the Tennis club but the Sydney Colt was a hit with one from one. Mark Fiorenti comes on to talk soccer with the Panel especially Sepp Blatter’s unfortunate comments about racism in sport and soccer. The Professor says it is particularly poor given the reach soccer has across the world. Mark then discusses the Socceroos performance against Thailand and thinks we should be worried about the form being displayed by the National team. He only rates the current chances of qualifying for the World Cup at 60-70%.
Gelding’s tips for 19 November 2011
The Gelding’s attention is on Moonee Valley today but a word of caution with the weather. More rain may affect the chances of some of the fancied horses.
As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.
Moonee Valley
Race 2 Horse 3 – Prussian Officer
Race 4 Horse 1 – The Fairy’s Kiss
Race 5 Horse 2 – Cat’s Pyjamas (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 6 Horse 6 – Eraset
Race 8 Horse 3 – Master Harry (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM. The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Warwick Farm Tomorrow 19 November 2011
I have been enjoying the Saturday morning trackwork where an ear to the ground can prove the difference between a winning and losing day. Have been hearing the right people giving a huge rap to one of Gai’s 2 year olds. Will be making it a standout and our sole selection at the Farm tomorrow.
Race 1 n6 NO LOOKING BACK A lot of talk at the track about this neddy trained by Gai. There is only one thing to do and that is to load up and shove.
I’m heading to Melb on Sunday for a week and hope to catch up with the Professor during the coming week.
Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
Sportzfan Radio show #226.2
13 November 2011 226.2 – Mark Fiorenti comes on to talk soccer and has to deal with questions over the Socceroos defeat by Oman overnight. He thinks it was a subdued performance and one of the worst in recent history. He is looking for a much better outing against Thailand on Tuesday and predicts a one all draw. The Panel also discusses Internationl friendlies between England/Spain, France/USA and ‘traditional’ rivals Gabon/Brazil. Mark also quickly reviews the fortunes of Melbourne Heart and Melbourne Victory in the A League. The Panel discuss the proposition that cultural diversity is the reason Australia is not performing as well in sport and believe this is not a true reflection of how things are. Paul Dalligan is enthusiastic about the rugby league Four Nations Tournament with the stirring win by England over New Zealand making way for the final next week between Australia and England. He says England will be fired up at home. He also discusses Des Hasler’s sacking at Manly and the implosion there. This will free Hasler up to coach Canterbury Bulldogs next season. The Panel look at golf and the Australian Open with many Aussies doing well and Tiger Woods form improving with the President’s Cup a week away. John Daly’s antics are discussed as well and it looks like his most recent walk off will be the last straw. Daniel Eade has a bit of hayfever and the Gelding comments he was worried that as Daniel had not been in the studio for a few weeks, he thought Sportzfan Stan had sacked him. Daniel talks NBA lockout and thinks there could still be a season. He also discusses NBL television ratings with the 1.15am game netting a very poor 15,000 viewers Australia wide.
