Some mixed fortunes with last week’s tips – a winner and two placings from the four selections. A big day of racing at Caulfield today with the feature race being the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. The track is currently rated a Good 4 with the rail out 6 metres for the entire circuit.

The Professor and the Gelding had a very nice day on the punt last Saturday with two winners, a second and the Professor’s Parlay saluting. They’ll look to improve on that today at Flemington and Randwick. At Flemington, the track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 10 metres for the entire circuit while at Randwick the track is also a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.

The Professor and the Gelding are tipping at different venues today. The Professor doesn’t like the continuous overnight rain and the effect it may have on the Moonee Valley track whilst the Gelding is ignoring the rain because ‘it’s Cox Plate day’.

At Moonee Valley the rail is in the true position and the track is currently rated a Slow 6 but that rating could deteriorate with more rain during today. The rail is out 4 metres for the entire circuit at Randwick with the track rated a Good 4.

The Professor won the five week challenge against the Gelding with success at Caulfield last week. The Gelding has demanded a re-match and so the challenge is back on again today. The Professor prefers to stay at Caulfield while the Gelding likes his chances north of the border.

The Caulfield track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3 metres for the entire circuit while the Randwick track is rated a Soft 5 with the rail out 7 metres for the entire circuit.

It’s week 5 of the challenge between the Professor and the Gelding and the results over the past 4 weeks couldn’t be any closer. They are tied with one win apiece and two draws. The Professor likes his chances at Caulfield today whilst the Gelding has his sights set on Randwick.

The Caulfield track is rated a Soft 6 with showers expected during the day and the rail in the true position for the entire circuit. At Randwick, the track is rated a Heavy 8 with the rail 4 metres out for the entire circuit.

The Professor’s tips for Caulfield races and the gelding’s tips for Randwick races on 4 April 2020

The Gelding took the lead last week and as we head to week four of the contest between he and the Professor, one can only wonder how much longer racing will continue to be one of the only sporting contests on the globe in these Corona virus times.

The Caulfield track is rated a heavy 9 with further rain forecast with the rail out 9 metres for the entire circuit whilst the Randwick track was rated a soft 7 and was downgraded overnight to a heavy 8 with the rail in the true position.

Today the Professor’s tips are from Caulfield and the Gelding’s are from Randwick.
