Tennis guru Brett Phillips talks Davis Cup and 2024 Australian Open

The Professor, the Judge, Coutta and Paul Dalligan talk with special guest, the First Serve’s, Brett Phillips about whether Australia can win the Davis Cup final and makes some predictions for the coming 2024 Australian Open. The panel discuss the AFLW finals having to compete with the AFL draft and Paul Dalligan gives an update on what’s happening in the NRL off season. To top it off, the Gelding has a stab at picking some winners at Kilmore and Swan Hill races.

The AFLW needs an average of 3,500 spectators per game if the AFL is to give them 12 rounds plus finals in 2024 and the panel look at the appropriateness of such a pre-condition. The Gelding reviews the cricket One Day World Cup so far and Paul Dalligan says the Rugby League Pacific Championships has been good for showcasing the game in Samoa, New Guinea, Tonga, Fiji and the Cook Islands.

After an indifferent outing last week, the Professor and the Gelding are looking to start the Spring Carnival on a high on Guineas day at Caulfield today where the track is currently rated a Good 6 and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Paul Dalligan looked at round 16 of the NRL and the panel took the AFL to task about the mixed messages in the media regarding a 19th team in Tasmania and the dearth of publicity given to the AFLW draft held during the week.
