Last week I mentioned I was heading to early morning trackwork. Well, in advance of tomorrow I picked up mail for 2 of Gai’s and I will be on both “best of the best” with the corporate bookies. For those who have been asleep at the wheel, “best of the best” offers you the best dividend out of the 3 state TABs or the best fluc at the track. All you need do is put your money on up to 40 mins before the race. Both Luxbet and Centrebet offer “best of the best”. Anyway, I’ll be back at trackwork in the morning. Get on Gai’s pair tomorrow.

Race 7 n8 YURRAPENDI e/w Cummings horse with potential. I jumped on at $21 e/w. Will have a saver tomorrow on BOUND TO BLUSH who has been very impressive.  

Race 8 n3 ROSIE’S REWARD (will have 70% of my stake on this neddy) and n11 TONK (will have 30% of my stake on this one). Between them they should control the tempo up front.

Flemington

I am told by a ratings nut that I must back two horses in Race 4 who equally have a break on this field and they are both $6.0+. So, I’ll be splitting my bet 50/50 on n1 AMAH ROCK and n2 MAHISARA

Race 6 n2 COMBAT KITTY Only 3 hopes of winning in this race and our neddy is the best rated.

Race 6 n2 SAN ZAIM (65% of race outlay) and n8 SONG AND ROSES (35% of race outlay) On ratings these 2 combined offer the best value in Sydney all day.

Unless you are a punt drunk or a Sydney Colt groupie you shouldn’t bet on Sydney as it is a rough day. Have some mail for a $34 horse today. A lounge chair, TVN’s coverage of Flemington and an online account with a corporate bookie is the go.

Race 7 n4 MERCONMAN e/w ($34w $9p) I have taken the quoted prices with Sportsbet (also available with IAS) this morning. This neddy has trialled well and worth a few bob e/w. If it flukes the win I will be able to pay off Greece’s national debt

Race 8n8 LIGHTINTHENITE ($4.0) My only query here is that the connections have left Christian Reith on board. His last ride, when the neddy was the subject of a national plunge (and my biggest bet of the year), bordered on criminal. He chased the tearaway leader in sectional times that made it completely impossible for the horse to have any chance. Any repeat will see Christian fed to the lions!!

Well all the attention is on Caulfield today where the champ Black Caviar goes around at a price that stops all of us having a bet. In Sydney there is not too much mail about except for 1 race. In an attempt to recoup last week’s losses it will be an all or nothing day in race 5.

Race 5 n7 LIGHTINTHENITE This neddy won in super impressive fashion first up and still had improvement left in it. I have had my biggest bet of the year on this one and had a saver bet on n3 HOOD who has some chance if the forecast rain comes. God give them strength or I will be on a diet of baked beans all October.

A perfect spring day in Sydney today and all the Sydney Colt groupies know how much I love a dry track. It does look a day of favs which should have alarm bells ringing for punt drunks. The secret is to allow the pro punters, trackmen and ratings expert do the hard yards for us. Out tips today come from weeding through their best advice.

Race 3 n3 STRIKE THE STARS Very well placed coming back from WFA. The increase in distance is a definite plus. Has been wowing them on the track.

Race 4 n1 TRUSTING Never been one of my fav horses but it looks to sit on the pace here and will have the best sprint to finish off the race. Best in race on ratings and has been working great.
