24 April 2011 199.1 – Sportzfan Stan leads off the show with suggesting the Port Adelaide FC coach, Matthew Primus should be sacked after yesterday’s loss to the Gold Coast Suns. Daniel says the club should look outside for a replacement. This leads to a discussion on whether the Melbourne Tigers should also look outside the club and not go with Darryl McDonald as coach. Stan suggests they should appoint Andrew Gaze. The Panel talk to former NBL player John Rillie who is now with Boise State’s basketball program. He discusses College basketball, NBA and the NBL playoffs. The Gelding comes on the show to talk racing and the weird behaviour of jockey Shane Scriven during the week when he ‘borrowed’ the whip of another jockey during the race. He has been suspended for 5 months over the incident. The Gelding also reviews both his and the Sydney Colts selections. His two tips for the Ladies at the Tennis Club got up. The Panel then discuss the Anzac Day game and whether it should be limited to just Collingwood v Essendon or should other teams also get a chance to play on the day. Mark Fiorenti has finally tweeted again…about the Copa Del Rey between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Gelding’s tips for 23 April 2011
The Gelding’s attention turns to his home track at Caulfield today. He is looking to build on his good form from last week and to provide a little Easter present to punters.
As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.
Caulfield
Race 2 Horse 6 – La Praline (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 3 Horse 1 – Miss Octopussy (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 4 Horse 2 – Turnitup
Race 6 Horse 4 – Launay
You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM. The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.
Good luck and good punting!

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Randwick
Hope like me you had a small win last week with our first selection winning and paying $6.10 which covered all bets. The weather is a worry today so I am limiting our bets.
Race 1 n1 RED TRACER Without doubt the bet of the day. Seems every man and their dog have followed the pro punters in on this neddy. Best rated runner all day and is ok wet or dry. Ran great sectionals winning last start.
Race 2 n2 PRAECIDO e/w If the track was dry I am told Gai was keen on FAST CLIP. With the early showers PRAECIDO looks a fantastic e/w bet to nothing. A nice Derby run and the wet wont bother this neddy. I have taken the current Betchoice odds of $11.0 and will have a saver bet on FAST CLIP
Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sportzfan Radio #198.2
17 April 2011 198.2 – The Gelding sends a cheerio to two new listeners who do the gardening whilst listening to Sportzfan Radio. Mark Fiorenti comes on to talk soccer and confesses to not having sent a second tweet as yet. He also discusses further departures at the Melbourne Victory, Asian Champions League and the mouth watering Champions League tie between Real Madrid and Barcelona. With six games to go, Mark doesn’t believe Arsenal can catch Manchester United in the Premier League. The Socceroos are back in the top twenty after their win against Germany. Paul Dalligan talks NRL and thanks channel 9 for broadcasting the Melbourne Storm game at Penrith this afternoon. The Panel discuss the NRL teams solidarity and foundations go out the window at this time of year when players and coaches announce their intentions on where they will be playing mid season. Paul doesn’t like the whole process. He believes it has got to affect the onfield performance. The Gelding disagrees that is affects performance. Daniel is confused as to how Damian Martin from the Perth Wildcats was awarded the Player of the Month in the NBL. This leads to a discussion of what MVP actually means. Sean Callanan talks social media and coverage of sport on mobile phones. The NBA spike in numbers is coming from people following the league by mobile phone. It is one area that the AFL could lift in. One issue in Australia is the lack of or poor coverage on 3G network in stadiums.
Sportzfan Radio #198.1
17 April 2011 198.1 – Sportzfan Stan leads off the show suggesting that the Australian Cricket Board should be sacked and appoint an independent Board with no parochial interests to improve cricket in Australia. Dan Butterly returns to the show to talk US sport including college basketball finals. He previews the NBA finals and thinks it is out of Chicago and Miami in the East and the Lakers are the team to beat in the West. In NHL action he feels the Canucks from the West and the Capitals from the East look good to advance to the Stanley Cup final. Dan reviews the first weeks of competition in MLB and says it is early days yet but the Mariners are looking at another 100 loss season. The Mets could also be a 100 loss team. Jackie Robinson is remembered on the 64th anniversary of him breaking the colour bar in major league baseball. The Professor queries whether Brett Favre will be back for a shortened NFL season. The Gelding reviews the racing at Flemington and Randwick with a much better performance this week on the punt. The Sydney Colt was not quite as successful.
Sportzfan Radio #197.2
10 April 2011 197.2 – Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney is in the press again for all the wrong reasons. Daniel is on Rooney’s side in that he is under so much pressure whereas the Gelding says he is the tosser of Premier League football. Daniel also says Mark’s tweets are as far apart as goals in soccer. Sportzfan Stan talks about the AFL’s plans to increase the number of teams and the necessity for good transport to be provided to the new team’s grounds. He recalls AFL Park where there were promises to build a rail link and that did not eventuate leading to the ground’s demise. Paul Dalligan talks rugby league and NRL and says the Storm were fantastic on Monday night who scored before Paul and the Professor had sat down. Paul says he would walk naked to Redfern if Wayne Bennett takes the Rabbitohs coaching job. He also talks about the hospitality at the Great Western Hotel. The Panel talk basketball and Daniel says common sense dictates D-Mac should coach the Melbourne Tigers next season. The Professor suggests Brian Goorjian should be approached. Sean Callanan talks sports social media and suggests we should alter the way we look at the AFL ladder. Percentage should be scrapped and be replaced with a head to head record between teams tied on points.
Sportzfan Radio #197.1
10 April 2011 197.1 – Golf returns to the show with Mordiboy (aka Fatman Blues) talking the US Masters in Augusta and how well the Australian golfers are doing. Mordiboy had picked Lee Westwood to win, however he is too far back now. Daniel queries why the Gelding’s segment starts with the James Bond theme. The Professor says it is because Gelding is an ‘International Man of Mystery’. The Gelding reviews the days racing results at Caulfield and Randwick. After being ‘in form’ in recent weeks, he had a bad day and awards three S-Hit rides. He again advises Daniel that ‘You can’t eat odds’. Dr Leslie’s CSA comes along to clean up after the racing segment. Mark Fiorenti comes on to talk soccer and says although Melbourne Victory has a mathematical chance of making the next round of the Asian Champions League…it is unrealistic. Roy Keane has been linked to the Victory coaching position but Mark doubts his coaching credentials. The Gelding asks if the money would be better spent on a marquee player rather than a coach.
Sydney Colt’s Doncaster Day Mail
It will be a very wet track at Royal Randwick today. We have been the victim of some poor riding this carnival but hopefully the punt drunk’s goddess will come to the rescue today.
Race 3 n4 STREAMA Has been the subject of some pre post big bets by a pro punter mate of mine. He says it was a cert on a dry track and he is gambling on it handling the wet.
Race 4 n9 BIG STORM I have strong mail to say this has improved heaps on the track and the wet is a plus.
Race 5 n8 GALIZANI Loves the wet and has a light weight. I’m on this neddy pre post as strong track support is expected.
Race 6 n7 FIBRILLATION E/W The 2 favs will be very hard to beat on many form lines but Fibrillation is a dead set duck. The more rain that falls the more I’ll put on this neddy each way.
I’ll have my fingers crossed for our fav ladies Gai Waterhouse and MORE JOYOUS in the Doncaster. It is hard to back her with the big weight in the wet but I will cheer loudly for her. Go girl!
Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
Gedling’s tips for 16 April 2011
The Gelding’s attention is firmly on Flemington today with winners being very difficult to select. However, always up for the test, here are some ‘mouth watering’ selections.
As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.
Flemington
Race 3 Horse 1 – Stirling Grove
Race 4 Horse 2 – Stole
Race 6 Horse 9 – Akzar
Race 7 Horse 5 – Flat Chat (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 8 Horse 1 – Baranagaroo (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM. The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.
Good luck and good punting!
