Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 31 March 2012

Congratulations to the Sportzfan crew with the fantastic win last night of their great neddy Danish Rock. As far as I was concerned the race was never in doubt and approaching the turn I joined the payout line. I will be on air with the boys this Sunday to join the celebration.

Well, Sydney Colt groupies who stuck solid last Satuday were rewarded with 3/3 winning bets and a profit on the day of +$572 which gives us a 2012 progress of +$442.

Just the 1 bet today. Race 1 n 9 KYRIA who is currently $9.0 fixed odds with Betchoice. This neddy has a determined finish and has shined on the track since its last start. So, bet $60 win (BOBs with Centrebet, Luxbet or Betstar) and $140 place (best of 3 totes).

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 24 March 2012

Wow, what a sensational day of racing. Group racing, is there anything better? Our 2012 progress currently stands at -$130 however we have some great mail today and anticipate a profit. We have 3 bets today. Remember ALL bets are to be placed with either Centrebet, Luxbet or Betstar who offer superior returns for those who bet in advance.

Race 1 n2 PIERRO $180 win (BOBs) This neddy put in a sensational run to win first up and my mail says the improvement on the track has been excellent.

Race 3 n3 HUSSOUSA $80 win (BOBs) $100 place (Centrebet, Luxbet and Betstar all offer best of the 3 state totes for place). Beating the Melb champ Samaready is a tall order but this girl has been burning up the track since they added blinkers. Cannot let it run without something going on.

Race 5 n14 MORE JOYOUS $160 win (BOBs) Don’t really need to explain picking this superior mare. Has been doing a treat in preparation for this including a trial win.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

A “Good” Heart these days is hard to find

Melbourne Heart FC secured its first ever spot in the Hyundai A-League finals after a 2-2 draw against Sydney FC last Saturday night.

The Heart will finish fifth or sixth in the home and away series (which concludes this weekend) and will travel to Perth or Wellington next weekend in a winner takes all elimination final.

The team has enjoyed a successful campaign this season, registering key wins over reigning champions, Brisbane Roar and ladder leading Central Coast Mariners to loom as a potential dark horse for the title.

Sportzfan Radio congratulates the team on being Victoria’s sole representative in the A-League finals.….

…..Moreover, (drum roll please), it has the honour of interviewing central defender, Curtis Good on this Sunday’s show (25 March)!!

A former Australian Institute of Sport captain, Curtis Good signed for the Heart in February 2011.  Good made his official debut for the club during the round 1 fixture against Newcastle Jets in the current 2011-12 campaign and has been an ever-present at the heart of the team’s defence ever since.  Possessing good leadership abilities, fantastic technical skills and a great sense of reading the game, Curtis Good is a name to look out for in years to come.

Tune in to this Sunday’s show to hear about Good’s thoughts on the Heart’s (successful) season, the feeling amongst the club about being in the finals for the first time, the philosophies head coach, John Van’t Schip has brought to the club (no, not just his impressive tan!) and much, much more.

The F-Word

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Randwick on St Patrick’s Day

A happy St Patrick’s Day to all the Sydney Colt groupies and punt drunks everywhere.

With last weeks loss our 2012 progress is -$70. The betting last week seemed to indicate our neddy had lost a leg. Well, maybe not a leg but certainly the jockey lost his compass and failed to stay in touch with the obvious danger who was backed as if everyone knew what was going to happen.

Today we are backing a roughie. I grabbed $61 win and $16 place on fixed odds yesterday. It is half those odds now. Anyway, race 3 n 15 Roll The Bones, $15 win BOBS and $45 place (best of 3 totes) with Centrebet, Luxbet or Betstar.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sportzfan Radio show #238.2

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!11 March 2012 238.2 – The second hour starts off with the Dr Leslie CSA. John O’Callaghan comes on the show to talk about the press release for the Lingerie League that is coming to Australia. He thinks it is a bad thing being the wrong message for sport and the wrong message for women. He believes if Sally Pearson was a man she would be front page news every day. John also wants to get rid of the title Sports Minister from the cabinet as it is just a “Minister for Good Times” position. He says Australia is obsessed with winning medals at the Olympics and the money being fed into winning medals should be put into grass roots sport. Daniel talks basketball and looks at the NBA with rookie Ricky Rubio from the Timberwolves tearing an ACL and missing not only the rest of the NBA season but also the Olympics. He also can’t understand why Australians would be begging Kyrie Irving to play for Australia. If he wants to play for the Boomers, it’s an honour. He only lived here for three months so he has a tenuous link with Australia at best. The New York Knicks are struggling and Linsanity seems to be wearing off. Daniel then looks at the possible trades before the trade deadline including Andrew Bogut, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. He also looks at the NBL and all the right things the New Zealand Breakers are doing. They have also re-signed Darryl Corletto for a further two years. Daniel looks at the run towards the finals with five teams in the running for four spots. Paul Dalligan talks NRL and tries to explain how the Rabbitohs lost last Monday night’s game and he called it an horrific loss. He reviews the round two results and makes predictions for the games remaining. Daniel finishes the show talking about the move Troy and Brad Pitt. He asks Sportzfan Stan for advice about the achilles heel as he says Stan must have been alive back in 1AD.

Sportzfan Radio show #238.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!11 March 2012 238.1 – The Panel congratulate Sportzfan Stan on his 91st birthday and his finishing his lengthy radio apprenticeship. Daniel wonders how many people Stan has sacked over the last three years and Stan says he has plenty more sackings lined up. His rant this week is on problem gambling amongst professional sports people and the comment by Brad Scott that it is a bigger problem than alcohol and drugs. The Panel discuss the topic in detail. The Professor thinks Victoria are most unlucky to miss out on the Sheffield Shield final on the ‘quotient’ rule. The Panel agree that the Sheffield Shield is the best cricket competition in the world. The Gelding (aka Horsey Man) reviews his selections from Saturday’s races at Flemington. Daniel raises the Lingerie football matches to be played in Australia shortly and says The Gambler will be available for dressing room interviews. He also observes that Stan has re-named the Gelding, Horsey Man and Daniel thinks the segment should be called Horsey Talk. The Gelding concludes with an update on how Danish Rock’s preparations are going.

The Gelding’s tips for 10 March 2012

The Gelding’s attention today is on Flemington with several fine horses strutting their stuff. The horse ‘that should have won last year’s Melbourne Cup’ is sure to salute today and is a special for the ladies at the Tennis club.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Flemington

Race 1 Horse 1 – Snitzerland
Race 4 Horse 1 – Wall Street
Race 5 Horse 2 – Shopaholic (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 6 Horse 1 – Hay List
Race 7 Horse 1 – Americain (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)

You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM.  The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.

Good luck and good punting!

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Warwick Farm 10 March 2012

We had no bets last week and kept our +$105 profit for 2012 in the pocket waiting for a better day. Well, today is a better day. Betstar has joined Centrebet and Luxbet in offering punters BOB (best of bookies fluc or best of 3 totes) so there is no excuse for anyone not to have an account.

Race 8 number 1 Secret Admirer $175 win BOBs This neddy is a Group 1 winner and the best placed horse in Sydney today. Moves up in distance from its 1st up run and I’m told has been working an absolute treat. Like the Sydney Colt’s groupies, this neddy has a ton of class.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sportzfan Radio show #237.2

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!4 March 2012 237.2 – In the  second hour of the show, the Professor asked Daniel what had happened to the NBL season as it seemed to have disappeared with the playoffs beginning soon and the AFL and NRL overshadowing basketball in the news.  Sportzfan Stan’s view was that the league’s management needed professional help to increase interest in teams, awareness of games and boost revenues. His feelings were shared by the rest of the panel with discussions centering on the NBL’s lack of promotion of the game and a remedy involving a shared venue with other sports such as netball leading to increased awareness.  Daniel reviewed the NBA giving his opinion on the teams, their standings and whether Clipper Darrell had been harshly treated . He also looked at the Twitter tag #BlameLebron. The NRL report from Paul Dalligan included highlights of St. George’s win over the Tinkler Knights. The win surprised Dalligan as the favoured Knights played well. The Professor thought the Raiders v Storm match was the game of the round so far with Billy Slater’s brilliant late try winner being a feature. Dalligan congratulated The Professor on his Bulldogs pulling out a win after overcoming a 14 point deficit. The Panel also discussed Essendon’s no-show for their match on Saturday with St. Kilda in Wangaratta and the AFL originally splitting the game points between the two teams with all in agreement that St. Kilda should receive all four points. Last moment thoughts from the Professor had the Panel discussing the Grand Prix and Bernie Ecclestone’s annual threat of axing the race.
