Geldings tips for Flemington 23 July 2011

The Gelding’s attention turns to Flemington today and sees that Daniel Eade has finally stuck his toe in the water and made a selection.  No doubt there will be plenty of discussion between the two on Sportzfan Radio tomorrow.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Flemington

Race 3 Horse 6 – Module (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 4 Horse 5 – Bel Sprinter (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 5 Horse 1 – Mannopoly
Race 7 Horse 7 – Testascana
Race 8 Horse 8 – Gossip Girl

You can hear the Gelding discuss racing with the Professor every Sunday on Sportzfan Radio at 12.30pm on 88.3 Southern FM.  The Gelding’s segment is sponsored by the Great Western Hotel.

Sportzfan Radio’s Paul Dalligan has also suggested a wager today and likes the following at Flemington:

Race 1 – Star of Giselle
Race 4 – Bel Sprinter
Race 6 – Wilander (each way)

Good luck and good punting!

Daniel Eade’s tips for 23 July 2011

I feel like the Hickory basketball team from the movie ‘Hoosiers’, going up against the unbeatable South Bend!  In this case, this is me taking on the more experienced and knowledgeable Gelding.

Yes, the Gelding has his way of picking horses.  He likes to study the form guide.

I prefer to bet on horses that have a name I can relate to, be it a name that has a reference to basketball, Collingwood, a favourite movie or a quality TV show.

For my maiden voyage into the world of the ‘non-expert tipster’, I have only made one selection.

Flemington

Race 4 horse 4 – Johnny Drama

The horse has good and bad form – either won two previous races or finished 11th in his last race.

For those who are not fans of the TV show ‘Entourage’, Johnny Drama is Vincent Chase’s brother.  The show revolves around the success and ups and downs of Chase’s career as an actor and his entourage.  Drama, his brother, is also an actor but far less successful and never willing to settle for anything but what he believes is the best for him and his career.

I suggest a $1.00 the win because if it comes second or third it really lost.

Sydney Colt’s Mail On World Series Of Poker

The past week has seen the main event of the world series of poker being played at the Rio in Las Vegas. It started with a record field of 6,865 hopefuls who payed $US10,000 for the opportunity of being crowned “world Champion”. Of course there is also the lure of a 1st prize of $8.7M.

The field has played down to the final 9 players who will return in November, a concept that only started 2 years ago. The final field is known everywhere as “the November 9”.  Life changing money is at stake here where the first 8 players will each walk away with $1M+.

Soccer is known as the “world game” but surely if you regard poker as a sport then it must rank 2nd behind soccer. The November 9 is representative of the US, Ireland, England, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belize (by way of Lebanon) and Germany.

So, who should us confirmed punt drunks bet on? Well, this year it is a little easier than in past years. “Why”, you ask? Well, ESPN for the 1st time had continual live coverage of the event. The Sydney Colt either watched it all live or taped it during work hours and caught up later. Hence, the form is well exposed. Not since 2003 has the chip leaders been such well known professionals. They are in form and have the chip stacks to force the pace or to back up any misreads. Courtesy of Betchoice below is the current market for the November 9 with their chip stacks in brackets.

4.50 Martin Staszko (40,175,000)
5.00 Eoghan O’Dea (33,925,000)
6.00 Ben Lamb (20,875,000)
6.50 Matt Giannetti (24,750,000)
6.50 Phil Collins (23,875,000)
9.00 Badih Bounahra (19,700,000)
10.00 Pius Heinz (16,425,000)
12.00 Anton Makievskyi (13,825,000)
17.00 Sam Holden (12,375,000)

I am backing both the Czech, Martin Staszko and the popular Irishman, Eoghan O’Dea whose father was once the leading European player. I will have 60% of my stake on Staszko and 40% on O’Dea. I am gambling against the American Ben Lamb who continues to firm in the betting. Lamb is the only player amongst the November 9 who has won a bracelet at this years world series. To my eye he attempts to force the pace too often and he hardly has enough chips to combat a bad read. At $6.0 he is under the odds needed. For keen poker followers you will also appreciate that Staszko has “position” on him ie Lamb is to the right of Staszko. Position in poker is vital.

God bless ESPN and God give strength to Messrs Staszko and O’Dea.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 16 July 2011

The mail is very light this week. Those I have spoken to with professional insight are mainly staying out tomorrow. The track will be a winter wet slow or heavy. Just the one bet each way. Hence, it’s either a lobster dinner or a can of baked beans.

Race 1 n4 HOT FOX e/w This neddy has won its last 2 races, with both being on heavy tracks. It will sit up on the pace which will be an advantage early in the day. Hence, dive in early at the each way, collect and sit back with a beer or twenty. Don’t forget to invest with the corporate bookies not the TAB!

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding’s tips for 9 July 2011

The Gelding’s attention turns to Flemington today with the running of the Winter Championship, regrettably his selection for that race Mr Make Believe has been scratched.  Still there are enough value bets to make it a very worthwhile day for a punt!

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Flemington

Race 1 Horse 1 – Bolisimo Miss
Race 2 Horse 6 – Module (for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 4 Horse 7 – Sidecar (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 5 Horse 3 – Swooper
Race 7 Horse 10 – Mid Summer Music

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Randwick 9 July 2011

I’m looking forward to talking racing with the Professor on air at 12.30pm this Sunday afternoon. In the meantime let’s get some cash off the corporate bookies. Bet early with Luxbet or Centrebet and they will give you the best dividend of the 3 TABs or the best bookies fluctuations, whichever pays the most.

Race 1 n2 MIKIYAMA All I need say is Chris Waller and Damian Oliver team up here. Should control the race up on the pace.

Race 4 n3 CLASSICS I’m having 65% of my stake on this neddy and 35% on n 4 STORM KITE. Based on ratings one of these should be saluting.

Race 7 n2 WHISPEROSA If this neddy didn’t have barrier 15 it would be a good thing. Fortunately Mr Oliver is on board to steer a winning course.

Race 8 n2 RIVER OF SALVATION e/w A pro punter mate has found some reliable mail from inside the stable indicating this neddy could pay for Gai’s recent holiday. If it does not win, put it in your stable of horses to follow.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Gelding’s tips for 2 July 2011

The Gelding returns after a week spelling in the paddock.  Today his attention turns to Moonee Valley on a marvellous winter’s day for racing.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Race 4 Horse 1 – Deliver the Dream
Race 5 Horse 5 – The Long Road (also for the ladies at the Tennis club)
Race 6 Horse 13 – Mr Make Believe
Race 8 Horse 3 – Beyond Pardon

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill 2 July 2011

Last week we put all our eggs in one basket and bet e/w on the mail horse of the day. It was beaten a pimple but still provided a small profit as it paid better than evens a place. A couple of shorties today but it does look a good day for punt drunks. Remember, if you have any regard for money, BET WITH THE CORPORATE BOOKIES NOT THE TAB!!

Race 1 n6 REDHANDEDJILL Impressed the right people last start when it travelled wide and still won.

Race 2 n1 UNANIMOUSLY I am told it is very well placed with the claim.

Race 5 n7 RAIN AFFAIR Blind Freddy could find this one. It is very short odds. I wasn’t going to dive into the short odds until I asked a pro punter what he thought and he responded with “it will lead and it will win”!

Race 8 n3 FOXSTAR e/w I am told it comes in very well based on ratings. It is fitter for the last run and moves up in distance.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
