Sportzfan Radio show #227.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!20 November 2011 227.1 – An almost empty studio today with only the Professor and Sportzfan Stan behind the microphone with the Gelding playing golf and Daniel Eade at a wedding (his own?). Sportzfan Stan is convinced cricket is doomed to failure because tests matches take too long and no young people are taking up cricket. He then gives the Professor his views on cricket and in particular the poor performance of wicketkeeper Brad Haddin and says he should retire gracefully. He also believes Ricky Ponting is a ‘has been’ and hands out a few sackings to the Test team. In the absence of the Gelding, the Professor talks racing and the results of the selections from Moonee Valley and the Sydney Colt’s tips for Warwick Farm. It wasn’t a good day for the Gelding or the ladies at the Tennis club but the Sydney Colt was a hit with one from one. Mark Fiorenti comes on to talk soccer with the Panel especially Sepp Blatter’s unfortunate comments about racism in sport and soccer. The Professor says it is particularly poor given the reach soccer has across the world. Mark then discusses the Socceroos performance against Thailand and thinks we should be worried about the form being displayed by the National team.  He only rates the current chances of qualifying for the World Cup at 60-70%.

Gelding’s tips for 19 November 2011

The Gelding’s attention is on Moonee Valley today but a word of caution with the weather. More rain may affect the chances of some of the fancied horses.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Warwick Farm Tomorrow 19 November 2011

I have been enjoying the Saturday morning trackwork where an ear to the ground can prove the difference between a winning and losing day.  Have been hearing the right people giving a huge rap to one of Gai’s 2 year olds. Will be making it a standout and our sole selection at the Farm tomorrow.

Race 1 n6 NO LOOKING BACK A lot of talk at the track about this neddy trained by Gai. There is only one thing to do and that is to load up and shove.

I’m heading to Melb on Sunday for a week and hope to catch up with the Professor during the coming week.

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sportzfan Radio show #226.2

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!13 November 2011 226.2 – Mark Fiorenti comes on to talk soccer and has to deal with questions over the Socceroos defeat by Oman overnight. He thinks it was a subdued performance and one of the worst in recent history. He is looking for a much better outing against Thailand on Tuesday and predicts a one all draw. The Panel also discusses Internationl friendlies between England/Spain, France/USA and ‘traditional’ rivals Gabon/Brazil. Mark also quickly reviews the fortunes of Melbourne Heart and Melbourne Victory in the A League. The Panel discuss the proposition that cultural diversity is the reason Australia is not performing as well in sport and believe this is not a true reflection of how things are. Paul Dalligan is enthusiastic about the rugby league Four Nations Tournament with the stirring win by England over New Zealand making way for the final next week between Australia and England. He says England will be fired up at home. He also discusses Des Hasler’s sacking at Manly and the implosion there. This will free Hasler up to coach Canterbury Bulldogs next season. The Panel look at golf and the Australian Open with many Aussies doing well and Tiger Woods form improving with the President’s Cup a week away. John Daly’s antics are discussed as well and it looks like his most recent walk off will be the last straw. Daniel Eade has a bit of hayfever and the Gelding comments he was worried that as Daniel had not been in the studio for a few weeks, he thought Sportzfan Stan had sacked him. Daniel talks NBA lockout and thinks there could still be a season. He also discusses NBL television ratings with the 1.15am game netting a very poor 15,000 viewers Australia wide.

Sportzfan Radio show #226.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!13 November 2011 226.1 – Due to a technical glitch at Southern FM with the logger we come in during the US report with the Panel speaking with Dan Butterly about the huge story developing at Penn State University and the sacking of football coach Joe Paterno. Also to lose their jobs were the University’s President and Athletic Director over the sex abuse charges laid against former Penn State defensive co-ordinator Jerry Sandusky. Is it co-incidence that Paterno became the winningest coach in NCAA Div 1A last week and the scandal broke this week? Dan encourages those who want to know more to read the Grand Jury testimony.  He also discusses the NBA lockout and feels if things keep going the way they are there will be no winners and no losers. Dan thinks there will not be a season as the owners aren’t worried if there is no season. Finally, Dan reviews the tip off of the College basketball season with the opening game pitting UNC against Michigan State played on an aircraft carrier on Veteran’s Day. The Gelding talks racing and reviews both his selections at Sandown and the Sydney Colt’s Rosehill tips. Sportzfan Radio tipsters picked 6 placings including 2 winners from 7 selections. Sportzfan Stan asks the Gelding how Danish Rock’s preparation is going but the Gelding says it will be a while before he races again. The Professor has trouble playing Dr Leslie’s community service announcement and the Gelding questions whether she may have fallen off her stool.

The Gelding’s tips for 12 November 2011

The Gelding’s attention turns to Sandown today and its Hillside track. With the weather improving, it promises to be a great Zipping Classic day.

As always the bets are on an each way and all up basis.

Race 5 Horse 9 – Under the Eiffel
Race 6 Horse 1 – Americain (for the ladies at the Tennis club)

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Rosehill Tomorrow 12 November 2011

Last week I mentioned I was heading to early morning trackwork. Well, in advance of tomorrow I picked up mail for 2 of Gai’s and I will be on both “best of the best” with the corporate bookies. For those who have been asleep at the wheel, “best of the best” offers you the best dividend out of the 3 state TABs or the best fluc at the track. All you need do is put your money on up to 40 mins before the race. Both Luxbet and Centrebet offer “best of the best”. Anyway, I’ll be back at trackwork in the morning. Get on Gai’s pair tomorrow.

Race 1 n7 KUCHINSKAYA

Race 6 n7 EMBARASSED

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.

Sportzfan Radio show #225.2

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!6 November 2011 225.2 – Mark Fiorenti discusses his pre-season predictions against how the placings are on the current A-League ladder. He says he’ll do a mid season review to compare placings at that time with his earlier predictions. Mark reviews the Melbourne Victory draw with Brisbane Roar and says it is the best live game he has seen this season. He also looks at the Premier League results and says Arsenal has turned its season around in the last few weeks. The Panel then talk about boxing and in particular the world bantam weight title fight being screened on free to air television on 7 mate between Darchinyan and Moreno. Sportzfan Stan says it is a brutal sport and nothing is gained by watching two men try to knock each others brains out. They then discuss Ricky Nixon’s attempted venture back into player management. Paul Dalligan comes on to talk rugby league and the four nations tournament. He is also worried that Russell Crowe may not continue his support of the Rabbitohs. Daniel Eade talks basketball with the Panel and the Melbourne Tigers getting back on the winners list in the NBL. He also talks about ONE HD showing matches at 1.30am in the morning and says it must be programming for security guards. Daniel then looks at the NBA negotiations and says it is quite possible the entire season could be lost. The Professor and the Gelding talk about their love of the Great Western Hotel as a place to have a production meeting. The Panel finally look at the International Series and believe that to survive the games need to be more than just an after thought and they wonder why the best players aren’t playing.

Sportzfan Radio show #225.1

@SportzfanRadio now available on iTunes!6 November 2011 225.1 – The Panel discuss the Spring Carnival at Flemington. Sportzfan Stan talks about cricket and in particular penalties for match fixing following on the conviction of three Pakistani cricketers. The Gelding talks about how short a price Black Caviar started at on Saturday and the Professor asks whether it is easier to pick a winner in the off season than during the Spring Carnival. The Professor says he is being followed on twitter by the ‘Little Red Pocket’, a sophisticated Japanese Cocktail Lounge. The Gelding and the Professor are going to check it out during the week. There is also a discussion about Shane Warne playing for the Southern Stars in 20/20 cricket and the Professor asks whether signing a forty plus player is good for cricket. The Gelding analyses the Emirates Stakes Day results at Flemington and also results ats Randwick. There is also a discussion about where Danish Rock is in its preparation for its next start. Mark Fiorenti comes on to discuss soccer and starts with a review of Melbourne Heart’s current form.

Sydney Colt’s Mail For Randwick Tomorrow 5 Nov 2011

Off to early morning trackwork tomorrow so getting some early mail posted for my groupies and fellow punt drunks.

Randwick

Race 2 n5 SHADOW LINE e/w Well in on ratings and not a hard race. Nice each way bet to get us going.

Race 3 n5 DRIEFONTEIN The pros tell me that going on trial form this is easy money. Jump on!

Race 7 n8 YURRAPENDI e/w Cummings horse with potential. I jumped on at $21 e/w. Will have a saver tomorrow on BOUND TO BLUSH who has been very impressive.

Race 8 n3 ROSIE’S REWARD (will have 70% of my stake on this neddy) and n11 TONK (will have 30% of my stake on this one). Between them they should control the tempo up front.

Flemington

I am told by a ratings nut that I must back two horses in Race 4 who equally have a break on this field and they are both $6.0+. So, I’ll be splitting my bet 50/50 on n1 AMAH ROCK and n2 MAHISARA

Money lost, nothing lost. Confidence lost, everything lost.
